Doyoon Yoon(South Korea) is composer based on Germany. She lives in Freiburg in Germany now. She has been composing music since she was 9 years old. Before she came in Germany she studied composition in Korea by Junyoung Park and then studied by Johannes Schöllhorn at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg in Germany for the first Mater degree and studied electronic composition by Alexander Grebtschenko at the same College for a second Master degree.

Her pieces were won the prizes and performed in Germany and Korea. One of her pieces ‘some resonance…어떤 울림…was won the prize at the 3.International Younghi Pagh Paan Composition Prize and performed at Berlin Philharmonic’s Kammersaal as the winner. She works with various ensembles, ensemble Particle, Recherche, Kompass, TIMF, many musicians and SWR Experimentalstudio.

She also has been selected for the Aufenthalt Stipendium at SWR Experimentalstudio of the southwest German Broadcasting Corporation, and is preparing for a project in 2026. In Freiburg in Germany and Italia she exhibited visual and sound installations. She worked on many acoustic, live-electronic, multimedia compositions visual, sound installations, a lot of tape music, also with traditional instruments and is always working on new challenges and creative works. Her works are unique, unglamorous and very focused way. It has no limitations. She deeply reflects on identity, sexism and racism. Her recent various works incorporate these themes. She melts them into her own color, own way, own language. ‘Only in it without A and B’, ‘schönes Licht schönes Lied’ ‘HiBarbie’ These are the her most representative works. Her piece ‘Metamorphosis’ is string trio. It focused on very delicate timbre. Other Pieces without electronic besides ‘Metamorphosis’ as a representative example that are ‘Clickety-clack’, ‘Sosein’.

As a multimedia and with (live-)electronics, ’Only in it without A and B’ is one of her multimedia piece. 4 channel fixed audio and video with live streaming. It is experimental piece. She used al materials from herself for this piece and performed herself. Also her other multimedia composition piece is ‘schönes Licht schönes Lied’. It is an small opera with ensemble, visual and live-electronic. ‘BOeING to Exit(2024)’ is a work for 8-channel fixed audio and new instrument Babel by Jean-François. In addition, her piece ‘HiBarbie’ for solo percussion with visual and live electronic was performed in ZKM in Next Generation X Electronic Music Festival. It is also piece with multimedia. It is about sexuality and involves social issues. In this piece, aside snare drum, a Barbie doll, a barcode scanner, endoscope camera and other small materials were used as instruments. Information from barcode scanner and endoscope camera are programmed through Pure data. Also one of her recent pieces ‘Generator Opposite Direction(2024)’ for piano and violoncello with live electronic performed by ensemble Recherche with SWR experimental studio at the concert. This works broadcasted on the SWR Kultur radio on 15th October. Her new duo piece for violin and viola with live-electronic performed with the TIMF Ensemble. Also one of her piece was selected on Score Follower online library YouTube channel.
